RCPE Afternoon - Mankato, MN
After receiving a call from Todd R earlier in the day, Dad and I decided to run up to Mankato and see if the RCPE would work west. In an interesting playout of events, upon arriving in Mankato and checking in at Spring Switch - A four pack of RCPE 40s were sitting faced east with a train behind them. After waiting for a UP westbound to clear up, the eastbound drug their sizable train into the Mankato yard. Following some yard shuffling, and a wait for a CP eastbound, they built their outbound train and headed west out of town right into the later afternoon sun. The water is still running high as they work past the Ardent Mills elevator along the riverfront in downtown Mankato. With the same four pack they ran into town with the eastbound, and only a 40 something car train behind them, the crew will have an easy stretch on the drawbars west.
