Pigeon Point Lighthouse
Located 5 miles south of Pescadero, California is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Built in 1871 it, along with the Point Arena Lighthouse, is the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States at 115 feet (35m) in height. The old Fresnel light was decommissioned in 1972 when a new aerobeacon was installed and the old light is lit only once a year and tonight was the night. The aerobeacon was extinguished and the old light was turned on at 6PM. For the first 15 minutes, the Fresnel lens was not rotated, which is what created the wonderful streaks of light in the image.
It looks awesome on black, so go ahead and click on it!
