40-52: give thanks

Agnes: Hey Dave, how do I look in here?

Dave: You look amazing.

Agnes: Agree. These squiggles and hearts make me look like I'm the centre of everything.

Dave: It is moderately appropriate. But how did you get in there without getting covered in chalk?

Agnes: Simple. Karen carried me and told me not to step on Julia's chalk creation or get my butt coated with chalk.

Dave: Well done. But I do have to ask. What are you giving thanks for?

Agnes: What do you mean?

Dave: Well, the 'give thanks' is because it's Thanksgiving. Usually a time to reflect about things to be thankful for.

Agnes: In that case I'm thankful for my tail.

Dave: Really? You have a loving family, a nice place to live, and a continual supply of good food. Yet you choose to be thankful for your tail?

Agnes: Yup. Without it I wouldn't have anything to sit on. Then I'd have chalk on my butt instead of my tail. And you know how I feel about breaking Karen's rules.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to everyone. Among the many things that I'm thankful for in my life is my loving family that not only puts up with my photography projects, but actively participates in them. My daughter came up with the design for this chalk drawing that we did in the street in front of our house. Julia, Daniel and I drew it out, then my wife helped with the Agnes wrangling to put her in the centre of the drawing.

And thankfully Agnes neither ran away nor stress peed on the chalk work while I was taking photos from a step ladder. Writing this out makes me wonder what the neighbours thought of the whole process.

And if you do look close, there is indeed chalk on her tail.
