The 2010's in North Wales - A decadian retrospect (14)

A major signalling upgrade between Holywell and Abergele saw the centerpiece semaphore signalling and stringmaster signalboxes consigned to history, with the procession of trains now controlled via a computer in Cardiff. In the final week of the pulley system as implemented by bowler hatted engineers many moons ago, 150262 hares off towards Rhyl on a Holyhead - Cardiff working whilst 67015 helming the 09:50 Manchester Piccadilly - Holyhead gives the 'Sprinter' a matey nod as it bears down upon the infamous 'drainpipe' bracket signals at Abergele. Coming about via a hasty improvisation, the 'bracket' signals were the frame for thousands of photographs between 1986 and the final 'switching off' date of 23rd March 2018.
