(1) All the lines of the trees and background are all organic. I tried cropping the photo, but didn’t like it as well without the parallel trees on both sides of the photo. The space in between the trees helps draw your photo back to the dog. The different elements captured create an interesting compostion.
(2) It has several layers in the background creating a strong depth of field with the dog up front. You can see a variety of texture in the different grasses, trees, and background. The yellow neutral tones of the dog really pops out from the bright green grass.
(3) The flash was on. I took it in the evening when the sun was just starting to go down.
(4) The dog is clearly the focus of the photo. I like how he posed with his head turned slightly. I took the photo horizontally and stood about a 25 couple of feet away and zoomed in mid way. The white balance was on auto.
(5) This portrait photo is of my yellow lab Pete. He is just like a part of our family and loves to go walking with us. Our dog is usually very active and I had been trying for weeks to capture a nice photo of him not running around or with his tongue out.
