Droplets Of Colour (Full Poem In Description)

This is a poem I put together a few years ago (back when I was still a hopeless romantic who dreamed of love). Of the few I've written this is one of my favourites:

Droplets of colour splash the canvas, in vibrant synergy

A rainbow bursting into life, cascading imagery

That swirls then rises in a haze

Engulfing all that's in its way

Intricate patterns form my name

The lucid world begins to fade

Then slips away.

Bubbles protect me from the fall, they float down to the ground

A place that I have never seen, but know each sight and sound

A halcyon lost paradise

Bathed in late afternoon sunshine

Heraldic trumpets faintly cry

Confetti drifts down past my eyes

Kisses the path

I see against the pale blue something begins to stir

Written in smoke across the sky 'A Heart That Beats For Her'

I'm led through streets across the town

Aureate splendour my surround

A grand piazza forms the crown

Its jewel stands waiting in a gown

Upon the steps

She guides my hand, I feel the beat cradled inside her chest

And only then do I realise I'm at its manifest

That which exists intrinsically

Within the chambers that she keeps

Protected under lock and key

Here has been given unto me

In all its glory

And now I stand amongst the essence of her elegance

I understand my presence here and all its relevance

Because this opulence and grace

Signifies feelings she embraced

And the Warmth she radiates

Has its foundations in the faith

She puts in me

The colours blend then dissipate and I'm returned alone

Eyes opened wide to who you are through that which I've been shown

So If you I someday forsake

Through wrong decisions that I make

Or roads I feel forced to take

I hope that I will never break

That piece of you.

Dedicated to Passion Pit for the stylistic influence, and to the girl who created the emotional inspiration.
