High Key Heron
Week #23
Theme: High Key
We spent most of this morning at the park doing what I love...stalking all the birds, including this blue heron. Because this week's theme is high key, I tried to produce that effect as best as I could outside with natural light...and my camera set to +1 EV...and a bit of help in post-processing to increase the white values. I took lots of shots of this fella...both in the river surrounded by the bright water and in the sky with clouds behind him. These bright backgrounds really helped in trying to achieve a high key look. I settled on this one for my submission this week...I like how graceful he is coming in for a landing on the river. A little later in the morning, we saw him catch a fish...and it was a pretty big fish...and then we saw him swallow it whole. My throat felt a little sore just watching lol...
