Blake's Mum

No.19 Someone I Love
Blake back in the frame again - but I really does luffs him. He is such a luffable boy.
A complete idiot but so docile, a very typical 45 mph couch potato retired racer. He was born and bred in Ireland, raced a few times, not very successfully, and was then shipped over to Liverpool and raced on unlicenced tracks in that area. He then ruptured a hamstring which meant the death sentence. And we're not talking an injection at the Vet's.
Luckily, one of his kennelmaids took a shine to him, recognised that he was such a lovely character, and managed to get him to a rescue centre.
It's a very harsh and horrible world, the arena of greyhound racing. Hounds aren't valuable like racehorses, they're disposable commodities if they're unsuccessful or when they become injured.
They make glorious pets, and there are many rescue organisations in the UK - we got him from the wonderful Greyhound Gap people - an independently run charity entirely self funded and run by a network of volunteer staff across the country, they do tireless work to re-home or care for every hound that comes their way.
