Working members of our local food co-op
We are highly committed to supporting locally grown, organic foods and community-run establishments. Fortunately for us, the only remaining inland food co-op in Maine is located across the street from our apartment. It is a very small co-op, kept going by the commitment and dedication of members and volunteers. Both of us have been very active members. Lauren headed up the interior painting brigade, spending an entire weekend painting (above--still smiling after 16 hours), and co-chaired the harvest dinner and silent auction fundraiser. Chad championed pivotal technical upgrades, donating a pieced-together, working computer, and using open source software to begin forming an online local grower's market.
