Calico
Calico is an old West mining town that has been around since 1881. When silver lost its value in the mid-1890's, The miner's packed up, abandoning the town that once gave them a good living. It became ghost town.
Walter Knott purchased Calico in the 1950's and it received State Historical Landmark 782 and in 2005 it was proclaimed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to be California's Silver Rush Ghost Town.
Calico was very interesting and VERY hot. most of the original town buildings have been restored, and walk around the town gives a good impression of just what it must have been like to live and work here.
A one month trip over to the states to visit our son. visiting San francisco, L.A. vagas, Claremont, Hermosa beach. Redondo beach. with lots of the usual touristy things thrown in.
