A Peacock in Eden 1 - Maui, Hawaii

On my recent trip to Maui, I visited a terrific arboretum and botanical garden called the "Garden of Eden." Although the title may seem a bit corny, it really is beautiful and worth the trip. It also has a large collection of exotic birds that roam freely through the extensive property. During my visit, I had this peacock all to myself, which allowed me to take quite quite a few closeups. For this shot, I was pretty lucky. The bird was perched on a fence at about eye level with me. I was about 5 or 6 feet away, and the natural bokeh was splendid. As well, I think the peacock was a bit drowsy in the afternoon heat, so he barely moved. The photo was taken in February 2011, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy.
