Entanglements - Oahu, Hawaii

I have photographed gold dust geckos for years. During this time, I have never had the opportunity or privilege to watch them mate until... I came across these geckos in central Oahu and watched this encounter develop. Nor am I certain about what I observed. The smaller gecko on the right was originally positioned just in front of the larger one on the left. It seemed that the smaller one wanted to pass, but the large one would not budge. Then, the smaller reptile began climbing over the larger one in a most peculiar way. If the goal was to get past the larger gecko, it was not the easiest or most direct route. If anyone has any ideas about this unusual entanglement, which lasted no more than 10 seconds, please let me know. The photo was taken in April 2024, with my trusty Olympus digital camera. Enjoy and stay well.

P.S. I will away on vacation for the next couple of weeks. See you in September.
