Bloom

In Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, the annual water lily harvest, from September to November, transforms flooded fields into vibrant floating gardens of pink and white blooms. Farmers, wearing traditional conical hats, skillfully navigate wooden boats to gather long-stemmed lilies, which grow wild and require no cultivation. This harvest provides supplemental income as lilies are bundled for sale in markets, serving decorative and culinary purposes, while preserving a cherished cultural heritage.
