Koh Panyi Floating Village
This stilt village, inhabited entirely by Muslims, was established 200 years ago by three Malaysian families. they built their homes on stilts over the water to circumvent the laws which prevented non-Thais from owning land. More families joined, and eventually the laws changed to allow land ownership. The families built a Mosque, schools, playgrounds, and everything a self sufficient city needs, including soccer and basketball courts
