Loch Lee
Not my photograph. Shot by my cousin Neil when we were out for a day on Loch Lee up at the head of Glen Esk in Angus. Which had originally been shown to me by an old pal - also Angus, a man who pulled more trout from this loch than I've seen anyone else do - knows his stuff, does Angus!
From memory on the day shown above we had a toughish day without a lot of trout coming aboard - too bright, too calm overall, too cold in mid May, a full decade syne.
I think that this may have been my last visit there with the Head Keeper Fred still in post. Sadly, I afterwards heard that Fred had passed away and so missed his retirement years. Fred was one of the best, and counted Prince Charles among his house guests on occasion - who used to show up randomly at the door asking to use the phone to summon a car to take him and his security staffman back to Balmoral, from where he'd tramped down through the glens.
