The Only Fulmar
"Fulmarus Glacialis Audoboni" (Linnaeus, 1761) - One of three subspecies of the Northern Fulmar that breeds in the Low Arctic and boreal regions of the North Atlantic (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_fulmar)
That's the only fulmar that provided me with a usable photopportunity last evening, when the light was kind.
Seems these only come ashore for a bit of loving, otherwise they live offshore for the rest of their lives. So-do they sleep afloat, or somehow fly on automatic while grabbing the Fulmar version of 40 winks?
Here's the RSPB's snippet on these fantastic stubby little petrels. I think they're quite magnificent.
