First, for Our Daily Challenge

Tonight was the first time I read from my new novel. For over a year I have been sending in portions of chapters to an organization in the city that hosts a once-a-month reading and also publishes what's read. I have gotten rejection after rejection, but nice ones that encouraged me to keep submitting my work, saying that the show they put together is theme-based and my work didn't match the theme. So, while in Alabama I got an email saying I had been selected to read this Monday night. I am proud of myself because I kept sending out my work month-after-month and it paid off. I am also proud of myself because I suffer from stage fright and I got up and read in front of a roomful of strangers. I want to get over this fear because it takes the joy out of reading my work like this. I think I did better tonight than I ever have, so yay me! And also, when I got home I realized that I was probably the oldest person there but that didn't bother me at all. So I'm really thankful that I did this!!
