F-3 Yamakaze
The F-3 Yamakaze (Mountain Wind) is Japan's first domestic 5th generation fighter aircraft. The culmination many years of research and development, the F-3 is Japan's first real answer to the growing Union of Songun Republic growing aerial armada.
Development of this aircraft was not cheap, and as such, Japan can only afford to field a few squadrons of F-3s. Due to their scarce numbers, they are a "silver bullet" asset, designed to be a major force multiplier wherever they may go.
To fulfill its main roles of air dominance and maritime strike, the Yamakaze features two large ventral weapons bays, as well as side-mounted bays for short range air-air missiles. Its canards, v-tail, and 2-D thrust vectoring combine to create a very nimble fighter up close, as well as a blisteringly fast one at range.
Internationally, the F-3 has taken on the informal moniker of "Orca," following their first training deployment with ZEUS forces where the Europeans immediately likened the F-3's paint scheme to the fearsome aquatic predator.
The USR had choice words for Japan's fielding of the Yamakaze. "Japan's futile efforts to destabilize Eastern Asia become all the more transparent with the outrageous and callous fielding of a so-called "stealth fighter". These vile machines threaten global stability and guarantee that the imperialist-destined Japanese aggressors can strike terror to the peoples of Asia once again."
