Knapsack Flame Projector
The Knapsack Flame Projector, Mark I.
Developed by the Incendiary Unit of the Trench Warfare Section, Engineering Division, Ordnance Department, it weighed fifty pounds.
Only one example was completed by the signing of the Armistice. This drawing is from a 1924 magazine article about Dr. William B. Reid, a surgeon, politician, and explorer.
He planned to study gorillas in Africa, and to defend himself, he would be armed with portable flamethrowers.
The safari does not seem to have taken place.
