Uncle Joe

He served in the Russian army--we have pictures of him, a dashing soldier with a curled mustache and full uniform. He was married to Aunt Minnie (Maria on her citizen papers) in Russia and the two of them came to America with Uncle Sam, the youngest son of the Yachnoviches, through Canada in 1923. Uncle Joe and Aunt Min settled in Ford City where he owned and managed a variety store. They had no children. Though he never served in the American armed forces, he was member of the American Legion where he wasTreasurer for Life.
