Higger Tor

It's 3.45am as I leave my house enroute to the Peak District. All the weather channels predict a glourious day, perfect for a couple of hours photography. As I approach the Chesterfield juntion on the M1 it starts chucking it down with rain, "you have got to be joking", I'm not happy! The rain eases as I drive through Chesterfield and I can see clear sky, phew just a shower.

As the road climbs the temperature drops, excellent, maybe frost on Higger Tor. Then I notice some white stuff, snow, now I'm getting excited! Climbing out of Hathersage a sprinkling of snow covers the road and whispy clouds move across the sky in the strong breeze, perfect! I give silent thanks to the Weather God's.

Apart from the light and the view across to Carl Wark the real interest for me is the almost luminescent green of the lichen on the leading edges of the foreground rocks, I just hope I have manged to convey it in this shot.
