Hill of Howth Tram 10 National Tramway Museum, Crich Tramway Village Derbyshire

This tram, built in 1902, operated on a short but scenic route north of Dublin and is the only Irish car in the collection at Crich.

Colloquially known as the Howth Tram, this tramway operated from June 1901 to June 1959 and served Howth Head, near Dublin, Ireland. The service was run by the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) (GNR(I)), which viewed it as a way to bring more customers to its railway stations at Sutton and Howth.

Built by Milnes in 1902 number 10 was only lightly used, thus making it a prime candidate for preservation.

The Irish 5'3" gauge frustrated use of 10 until the opportunity arose to run it at Blackpool for that line's 1985 centenary at which time the car was re-gauged and shipped to the coast for a four year stay. Since its return to Derbyshire it has remained a static exhibit.
