There are three different missile bases in the area, all of which were assigned to a missile regiment.
After ratification of the INF Treaty in 1988 and after demilitarization in accordance with the contract, the R12 silos lay in slumber for another 33 years. Now unofficial demolition work is taking place there with heavy equipment and the guys are (as expected) not particularly happy to meet strangers with cameras there.
Here, at one of the sub-locations, the guys were a little more relaxed than elsewhere, and so at least a few pictures were possible.
Between the two construction machines, you can only guess the second silo shaft. The dome has already been completely removed.
When the guys noticed that I was taking the picture, they got really excited.
