The logo badge from the original company was carried over to the reborn 1999 company. The logo first adapted in 1915 merges a spoked wheel with an aircraft propeller reflecting the companies motoring and aeronatic heritage

 

Spyker was a Dutch carriage, automobile and aircraft manufacturer, started in 1880 by blacksmiths Jacobus and Hendrik-Jan Spijker and originally located in Hilversum, the company relocated to Trompenburg, Amsterdam in 1898.

in 1922, the company went bankrupt again and was acquired by Spyker's distributor in Britain, who renamed the company Spyker Automobielfabriek. Production continued and prices dropped but the company continued to decline. finally running out of funds around 1926

 

The reborn company was founded by Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn in 1999, and since 2000, Spyker has been building exclusive sports cars like the C8 Spyder and the C8 Laviolette (with its elegant glass roof). Spyker planned to relocate from Zeewolde to Whitley, Coventry, where assembly would be done in partnership with CPP Manufacturing but due to the bankruptcy of Saab and other business disagreements the move did not take place. In 2010 Spyker closed a deal with GM that allowed them to takeover Saab with General Motors continuing to supply engines, transmissions and also completed vehicles in the shape of the new Saab 9-4X from GM's Mexican factory. The deal included a loan from the European Investment Bank, guaranteed by the Swedish government. Saab Automobile quickly ran out of money and Spyker was unable to fund the losses. The companies stopped paying their bills in early 2011. On March 30, 2011, production was halted at Saab Automobile, due to suppliers refusing to deliver without payment. In January 2021, Spyker filed again for bankruptcy
