The DB9 was the first model built at the new Aston Martin factory at Gaydon, Designed by Ian Callum and finished by his successor Henrik Fisker.
Its V12 6.0 litre engine produces 470bhp and is the reason why the model, which follows the DB7 was not called a DB8, suggesting eight cylinders.
Designed and developed on Ford's VH (vertical/horizontal) platform, along with the DBS
The body structure is composed of aluminium and composite, melted together by self piercing rivets and robotic assisted adhesive techniques and has twice the torsional rigidity and is 25% lighter.
Aston Martin's engineers designed the quad-cam, 48-valve engine for the V12 Vanquish in collaboration with Ford's Research and Vehicle Technology team (RVT) and were able to reduce its weight by 11.8 kg (26 lb) for use in the DB9.
The DB9 sells at a base price of £ 111,000
Shot at the British GT/F3, Oulton Park, Cheshire. 25:04:2011 Ref 71-291
