One of the most important GT racers of its time, built on a short 94.5inch wheelbase for improved handling. Examples built of both steel and aluminium bodies to be used in road (lusso) or racing trim. The engine ouput ranged from 237 bhp to 276 bhp.

Development was handled by Giotto Bizzarrini, Carlo Chitti and Mauro Forghieri the team responsible for the later 250 GTO. Disc brakes were first used in a Ferrari GT and a combination of low weight, high power, a well sorted suspension made for a highly competitive package. Designed by Pininfarina and made by Scaglietti the car was unveiled at the 1959 Paris Motor Show. The car went on to claim the GT class of the constructors championship for Ferrari in 1961.

This car chassis number 2735GT is the 250 Short Wheelbase in which Sir Stirling Moss won the 1961 Tourist Trophy for celebrated privateer team owner Rob Walker. It was Stirlings seventh and final TT victory
