The Aston Martin V8 was hanbuilt by Aston Martin from 1969-89, emerging through several generations.

Powered by a V8 engine designed by Tadek Marek, the V8 made its debut in 1969 in the DBS V8 which evolved from the DBS six cylinder model.

The DBS name was dropped in April 1972, the flagship car becoming known simply as the V8, Aston Martin V8 cars, produced from 1972 through July 1973, used a similar engine to the DBS V8, albeit with Bosch fuel injection rather than the earlier carburetors.

The Series III was introduced in 1973, with the engine switching back to normally aspirated form, and the use of Weber carburettors, ostensibly to help the car pass new stricter emissions standards in California. these cars are distinguished by a taller hood scoop to accommodate four twin-choke (two-barrel) Weber carbs. The car produced 310 hp (231 kW; 314 PS) and could reach 60 mph in 6.1 seconds with automatic transmission and 5.7 seconds with manual. ese cars are distinguished by a taller hood scoop to accommodate four twin-choke (two-barrel) Weber carbs.
