The MG T-Type is a series of body-on-frame open two-seater sports cars that were produced by MG from 1936 to 1955. The series included the MG TA, MG TB, MG TC, MG TD, and MG TF Midget models.

The TD Midget, announced in January 1950, as a contination of the T Series Midget Sportscars, following the TC. It combined the TC's drivetrain, along with a new transmission, a modified hypoid-geared rear axle, the now familiar T-type style body and independent suspension on front axle using coil springs from the MG Y-type saloon: In addition the TD featured smaller 15-inch disc type road wheels standard equipment bumpers and over-riders. It was also five inches wider than the TC, it did run into critiscm for being less harsh than its forbears, which was due to it being market primaryly at the North American export market. In 1950 the TD MkII Competition Model was introduced, featuring twin fuel tanks Andrex dampers, and a higher ratio rear-axle it was produced alongside the standard car, with a more highly tuned engine of 57bhp again market with exports in mind, as UK buyers were still subjected to wartime fuel restrictions, and 72 octane "pool petrol".
