MG X power SV (Sports Veloce) After acquiring Qvale Automotive (Italy) and with a view to US sales plans to produce an MG based on the Qvale Mangusta were hatched, One attraction was the potential sales in the United States, as the Mangusta had already been homologated for the American market. . The 2001 prototype was deemed to be not aggressive enough designer Peter Stevans modified the original design and brought the design from clay to production in 300 days, The production process was complex, partly caused by the use of carbon fibre to make the body panels. The basic body parts were made in the UK by SP Systems and then shipped to Belco Avia near Turin for assembly into body panels. These were then assembled into a complete body shell and fitted onto the box frame chassis and running gear and shipped to the MG Rover Longbridge factory to be trimmed and finished. The target price of £ 100,00 was set, with the baseline model going on sale at a cost of £ 75.000 to £ 82, 000 for the SV-R model.

Some parts came were sourced from Fiat, headlamps from the Punto Mk.2 rear lights from the Fiat Coupe. Powered by a 4600 cc V8 of 320 bhp the manual had a top speed of 165 mph. This car is registered as a 4998cc this would make it the SV-R version with a 32 valve engine of 385 bhp.
