The Williams FW17 was a Formula One car designed by Adrian Newey with which the Williams team competed in the 1995 Formula One season, a new package of regulations schedualed for 1995 gave the FW15 a very different look to the outgoing cars and a new 3 litre Renault replacing the 3.5 litre of previous years.

With what was regarded as the best chassis and aerodynamics in the field combined with the best engine, 1995 disappointing for the team, who were beaten to both titles by Michael Schumacher and Benetton. Although the FW17 was superior in qualifying trim, taking 12 pole positions, Schumacher was usually more competitive on race day. although Williams did finish the season 2nd in the Contructors Championship. The FW17 was updated for the final four races of the season as the FW17B.

 

Race results for the first 13 races of the season, as the FW17 netted 90 points, 52 for Hill 38 for Coulthard, with Hill scoring wins in Argentina, San Marino, and Hungary, 2nd in Monaco and Belgium, 3rd Portugal and 4th in Spain, while Coulthards 38 points came with a win in Portugal, 2nd in Brazil, Germany and Portugal, 3rd France and Britain and a 4th at San Marino. The pair added a further 23 points in the FW17B in the last four races of the season, Hill with 13 more points scored with a win in Australia and a 4th in the Pacific GP (Aida, Japan) while Coulthard added 10 points with 2nd in the Pacific GP and 3rd in the European GP (Nurburgring, Germany) .

 

Note this car has had the information sheet by the near side front wheel switched with FW22
