The Morgan Aero was introduced in 2001 as the companies first entirely new design since 1948, and differs from all earlier models in having an aluminum chassis and frame as opposed to traditional ash frame.

When introduced the car was powered by a 4.4 litre BMW V8 engine, mated to a six speed Gertag transmission. Uprated in 2008 to a BMW N62 4.8 litre V8 with an optional automatic transmission.

The design was critised in the press for its rather cross eyed appearance, which Morgan claimed was for aerodynamic reasons. But from 2007 the front has been redesigned using Mini rather than VW New Beetle headlights

The AeroMax was first shown at the 2005 Geneva Motorshow as a bespoke car built for a well respected Morgan customer Prince Eric Sturdza of Banque Baring Sturdza in Geneva, A developement of the Morgan Aero chassis it is said that the full name is that of Charles Morgans son Max Due to the interest shown at Geneva and with the blessing of Prince Sturdza a limited production run of 100 in celebration of Morgan’s centenary was agreed, the final production running three over due to replacements for crashed cars. Production took place 2008-09, this car being the last of the batch has been retained by and road registered 2010 by Morgan. The design is the work of Matt Humphries then a 21 year old Coventry University Graduate working at the factory

It was the first Morgan to have a retail price above £100,000 at £110,000 but sold out within a few months. Owners have included Richard Hammond, Rowan Atkinson and Paul O'Grady
