The new compact executive BMW 3 Series debuted in October 2010 with the F30 Saloon which was followed by the Touring (F31) in May 2012 and Gran Turismo (F34) in June 2013, The BMW F30 is an internal corporate chassis designation for the BMW 3 series of cars. The series is the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series and succedes the E90 range.

The F30, designed by Christopher Weil was given a public unveiling at the 2012 Geneva Motorshow, with the Michael de Bono designed Estate at the Auto Mobil International Leipzig 2012 and the Page Beermann designed GT at the Geneva International Motor Show 2013.

The new Three Series is larger in all dimensions compared to its predecessor. The styling is similar to previous generations with a sweeping bonnet, short front overhang, and long wheelbase
