The entry level Porsche 924 was followed in 1978 by the 924 Turbo. Much more than a 924 with a Turbo bolted on the new car had many new and uprated components to help it cope with the considerable power increase.
In 1980 Porsche announced their intention to take the 924 racing, with the 924 GT. 400 of which were built to satify homogolation requirements, but further developement was still required.
The 924GTS was produced in order to comply with Group 4 requirements, with a total production of just 59 cars. Based on the 924 GT the GTS introduced further performance enhancements uprating the engine output to 245bhp weight was reduced with the use of plexiglass windows and fibreglass panels. All 59 cars were finished in Red and were available in standard and Clubsport forms. The Clubsport version boosting output to 280bhp along with further weight savings, an aluminium roll cage and racing seats.
This car belongs to LeMans legend Dereck Bell and is the only example produced with pearlescent finish wheels. Capable of a 155mph top speed and the 0-62 mph dash in 6.2 seconds
