Code named ADO16 (Austin Drawing Office) the BMC future 1100/1300 range was developed under designer Sir Alec Issigonis and (hydrolastic) suspension by Alex Moulton with styling by Pinninfarina the car remained the mainstay of BMC later the Leyland Group for 11 years.Introduced in 1963 as an Austin = Morris 1100 cc (Wolseley, Riley,MG and Vanden Plas model were added to the range along with a 1275 cc engine. This Mark 2 Austin 1100 continued along with the Morris into Mk.II joined by the 1300 r. The total number of ADO 16's constructed was 2,159,386
