A Bentley Speed Six won the Le Mans 24 hour race in 1929 and 1930 with 160bhp with twin vertical SU carburettors, straight sided radiators, green label badges and a choice of C or D type gearboxes. The late model cars come with large capacity electron sumps. All on the long 142.5 inch chassis.
This Bentley unusually has had at least twelve owners, six before WWII. It was first delivered in November 1930 and registered GK 90 to Lord Brougham and Vaux, with a a Coupe body by Gurney and Nutting.
Re registered with the present number AXX 890 in 1934 when its then owner transfered the original to his new Bentley.
In the 1960s it was sold at auction by Brookes, described in the catalogue as having a four seater touring body by Figoni, which had been restored and painted. In more recent years the car has been furnished with its present Le Mans Replica Vanden Plas-style coachwork, with fabric-covered body and blue livery.
