The future 1100/1300 was developed at the groups Austin Drawing Office project 16 under Sir Alec Issigonis with suspension design by Alex Moulton and body design from Pinnin Farina. First introduced in 1963 as Austin and Morris 1100 (joined later Wolseley, Vanden Plas,Riley and MG and later still the 1275 cc 1300 versions) they became the mainstay of British Leyland for 11 years. The Wolseley Mark 1 came with the 1098 cc engine and sold 17397

The Mark II featured smaller fins and sycromesh on the top three gear ratios. . A total ADO16 production of 2,157,386
