Introduced as a Saloon, Saloon Deluxe, the Light Twelve model had a slightly waisted frame and pressed steel wheels, otherwise much as the 1936 model.
This rare and attractive Drophead was added to the range in 1938, while 1939 brought independant front suspension and the Super Twelve model complete with windtone horns and fog lamps.
This car is thought to be the oldest surviving 12 Drophead Coupe and one of only three remaining. this was a one owner car until 1983, when it came into the present owners possesion in a very sorry state. With the lower part of the car and some body panels completely rotten. Restoration including remaking the sills, inner rear wings, and spring steel bumpers. Originally Grey the car was at this stage Blue and is now resplendant in Old English White, though apart from the colour every effort has been made to keep the car to original specification. No quick fix, the restoration took nineteen years to complete and the car passed its first ever MOT in August 2002.
When photographed the car was part of a small Armarda of privately onwed Standards on display in front of the Museum
