Sold as a medium sized four door family saloon by Triumph while under Leyland control, The Triumph 1300 was Leylands first front wheel drive model and was aimed as a market competitor to BMCs 1100, 1300 models.

Introduced at the 1965 British Motor Show as a replacement for the Triumph Herald, it was re-engineered in 1970 to become the Dolomite range.

Designed by Michelotti in a style simular to the larger Triumph 2000 and with a sumptuous interior.

Powered by a Herald 13/60 type engine, mounted north/south, in a front wheel drive saloon. Four speed all syncromesh gearbox. Trailing link rear suspension, rack an pinion steering and front disc brakes
