SIALKOT, April 19: - The slow pace of construction and dualization of 46 KMs long Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala main road and unchecked reckless driving by the public transport vehicle son this main road, today, took the lives of five members of a family during a fatal head on collision between a car and passenger van (carrying the students of Gujranwala based private university). This nasty accident was enough to shake the conscience of the concerned government functionaries, who have not yet felt any need to check the nail pace of the dualization of this main road.

As many as 13 people have yet lost their lives in four fatal road accidents on this main road during the last two weeks, which was a point of grave concern for every one, leaving the some unanswered question marks on the alleged slackness and height of negligence of the Daska traffic police, which allegedly remain unable to check this reckless driving. The narrow ways and dangerous curves of this under construction main road were being resulted into loss of several lives (almost daily) in the fatal road accidents being occurred daily on this main road.

 

Meanwhile, the local social, political, religious and business circles, President Daska Bar Association (DBA) Malik Jameel Akhtar Advocate, Chairman Thinkers’ Forum Daska Muhammad Jamil Sethi, Senior member Sialkot District Peace Committee Zafar Malik, General Secretary Anjuman Tajraan Main Bazaar Daska Muhammad Ather Lone, President Sarafa Association Daska Rana Muhammad Shabir, Chairman NGO Young Blood Foundation Daska Bashir Ahmad Naz, President Tanveer Ahmad Mughal, general secretary Haji Zahid Jehangir, President Anjuman Rajputan Daska Rana Ghulam Mustafa, secretary Citizens’ Welfare Council Imran Sharif , President The Daska Engineering and Industrial Association Zahid Hussain Mughal , President NGO Aman Foundation Daska Dr. Nasir Hussain Alvi and general secretary Dr. Muhammad Ameen Raza have strongly protested against this slow pace of construction work and dualization of main Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala Road and rising number of casualties during the fatal road accidents.

 

They have urged the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Inspector General of Police Tariq Saleem Dogar, Commissioner Gujranwala Division Hashim Tareen and Sialkot DCO Mujahid Sher Dil to take serious notice of this critical situation and direct the authorities concerned to jazz up the speed of this construction for saving the precious lives in fatal road accidents being occurred on this main road…photo & text by Abid Mehdi.
