Hawksworth inspection saloon 80943 at Parkend, Dean Forest Railway.

W80943 is a Great Western Railway designed diagram Q13 Hawksworth Inspection Saloon, one of seven Inspection Saloons built by British Railways at Swindon Works in 1948 to Lot 1701. They were not part of the passenger traffic fleet and were for use by the Engineering departments. These coaches were 52 feet long by 8 feet 11 inches wide, carried on pressed steel 9-foot wheelbase bogies with an open saloon with large windows at each end fitted with loose chairs. In the centre of the coach was a galley, lavatory and guard’s brake. W 80943W was withdrawn from service in the mid-1970s and, following a period on the Severn Valley Railway, moved to the Dean Forest Railway around 1979.
