Shacks and Shanties: "Ghana Must Go" with Abbéy Odunlami
The “Shacks & Shanties” project is a South Side Chicago installation initiative organized by Faheem Majeed. Shacks were constructed as platforms for artistic performances and installations. In this event for the project artist Abbéy Odunlami created the installation and performance "Ghana Must Go" after the plaid patterned tote bags that are so prevalent in West Africa. Odunlami spoke about community engagement, fashion, and appropriation.
