11X ASP World Champion Kelly Slater of Coco Beach, Florida, USA (pictured) advanced into the quarterfinals of the Billabong Pipe Masters on Friday December 9, 2011. Slater was forced to make his way through the repo charge round five after he was sidelined by local standout John John Florence (HAW) who won their round four heat earlier in the day. Slater came back to defeat another local in Kalani Chapman (HAW) and will take on Florence for a rematch in their quarterfinal duel when competition resumes.
