White-face fly visiting astrantia
On two separate days last year, I saw several White-face flies that gravitated towards astrantia and a few other specific flowers. They're rather intimidating looking (IMHO) and very fast fliers making them quite fun to try and photograph. This one stayed atop the astrantia for only a nanosecond. Incidentally, I didn't find one white-face fly this year.
