The real deal
Hi Everyone!
From my late Summer 2019 Archives:
This is a Milbert's Tortoiseshell, one of my favourite butterflies and one I rarely see anymore.
Why the caption? I attended a major craft sale this past weekend. One of the vendors was selling framed images of beautiful butterflies which all looked rather realistic. Curious, I asked what medium was used to create the butterflies. "They're all real," he replied.
I was so horrified and shocked that I was rendered speechless aside to utter the fact that I believed that to be morally wrong.Oh, the things I thought of to say after the fact .... I was so upset that I left the craft show, brokenhearted. I couldn't believe my eyes that these days, anyone would have the audacity to capture and preserve butterflies for the sake of trying to make a buck.
So, I am posting this for Wannabe Warmer Wednesday, really more for my broken spirits in remembering this event, plus the fact that the high for today is supposed to reach only -18C.
Thank you, my Flickr friends, for reading my rant and viewing this image. I appreciate your feedback, always!
