2. Lyon-Dubai
When someone falls in love with a city, the next logical step is to move there. When Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, fell in love with the city of Lyon, France, he decided to replicate it in Dubai. (Turns out, when you’re on the Board of Directors at Emivest Aerospace, the second Vice Chairman of the Dubai World Trade Centre, a member of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and a board member in Union National Bank, you have a lot of pull.) In January of 2008, Lyon’s Mayor Gérard Collomb signed an agreement with al-Gandhi for the project that will include French-style houses, offices, and subsidiaries of Lyon museums as well as a hotel and school.
