22/52 - Boredom (aka What Does the Dog Think?)

Poor Gracie (and Koko). Our lives have been a mess for months now. We've dealt with water damage in our kitchen and basement, my 92-year-old mother breaking her hip and wrist, traveling to Colorado to find and purchase (yay!) a new house, fixing the water damage in our house, getting our house ready to sell, etc. It's been crazy. And the part that is really hard is how much the dogs suffer from the craziness. There have been so many people in and out of our house - insurance agents, realtors, painters, cleaners, hardwood floor guys, carpet cleaners, on and on - the end result is the girls have had to spend too much time in their secure fenced yard, out of the house. I feel so badly for them. We try to play with them when we can, but it's been crazy. And now, even when they come in the house, their access is limited. We don't want to "dirty" the newly painted walls or the newly cleaned carpets (hence the dog gate behind Gracie). They are troopers and they are doing well and we play with them as much as possible but I always wonder -

WHAT DOES THE DOG THINK????

Do they wonder why they are now banished to the yard so often? Do they wonder why they don't have access to so much of the house? Do they wonder why so many people have shown up at the house? I really REALLY wish I could explain to them.
