18/52 - A Broken Gracie

Poor Gracie. She woke up this morning with an eye that she can't hold open, oozing, swelling, light sensitivity. Even though it's Sunday we called our long-time vet who said "we don't like to delay on eye issues" so took her in. She has a laceration on the eye - don't know the cause but there are so many potential sources. It is obviously painful but fortunately she is not pawing or scratching at it. The pupil is very constricted, an indication of pain. A bit concerning is that the pupil in the other eye is dilated and not responsive to light. The vet feels that is likely a temporary condition from the trauma to the right eye. So she is a sad little puppy right now.

 

I'm sorry for my lack of participation recently. In addition to this, my 92-year old mother recently fell and broke her wrist and her hip, had surgery, and is now in a "transition" unit. There are other major life issues going on that I will share in a couple of weeks, but for now, I am feeling very much overwhelmed. I will catch up on commenting as much as I am able soon. Oh, and our internet has been sporadic the last week.
