NS ordered 58 Stadler FLIRT EMUs in April 2015 to cover a shortage of trains expected from January 2017. These were built in Siedlice in Poland with the first set arriving in April 2016. Authorisation was needed before the trains could enter service in December 2016, with many trains often failing during test runs and causing problems for regular trains. Fortunately they are now in regular service and seem to have recovered from their teething troubles.
Here many sets are seen stabled at Maastricht, wating for authorisation or for NS to accept them into their fleet.
