Photo #10: “Defend the Fort” Street Banner/Sign on Light Pole
This photo was taken Wednesday, December 2nd, around 4:00 in the afternoon. The location of this banner/sign is one of many on a light pole off of College Avenue in Old Town, Fort Collins. These align the streets all over Fort Collins, also College Avenue or 287 that runs through Loveland, put up by the City of Fort Collins, showing support for CSU athletics and showing CSU pride for our community.
The placement of these flags/banners on main streets in the city provides information value and compositional meaning. It also has salience because when people are driving down the street, something that is hanging over the street is more eye-catching than something that is located off of the road. CSU pride is prevalent throughout the community, but is more prevalent the closer you are to Colorado State University campus.
