The old window looks out onto an old Rowan tree, traditionally planted in cottge dooryards to help shelter the house from witches and ghosties and evil influence in general. And look at that lintel stone above the window - how long do you have to look to find a slab of stone like that?

gorfram says: This is an excellent photo, too. No Rowan tree, but a strong element of interest in that the dwelling still sems to be in use. The mismatched boards filling in for half the window glass reminds me of my Grandpa's farm in Kansas.
